PRIVATE PIANO LESSONS

Private Lessons are typically the most popular lesson type for beginner, elementary, late elementary, intermediate, and advanced students. My teaching pedagogy emphasizes the fundamentals: theory, rhythm, note-reading, technique, sight reading/singing, ear training, along with musical interpretation. To keep it interesting and fun for the students, I incorporate music games in the lessons to help solidify musical concepts and terminology. I also teach composition, chording and improvisation to bring out their own creativity.

Private Lessons are held weekly.  We begin with half hour lessons and progress to 45 minute or one hour lessons when the students reach intermediate to advanced.  Although not enforced, students are encouraged to participate in the Royal Conservatory of Music examination program.

Each year we have a piano recital where everyone is encouraged to play for their family and friends.  This is also an opportunity for me to acknowledge the students who have done well all year round with awards.  To help students stay focused I have an incentive program along with an awards program with prizes.

Exam Preparation

Students may take practical and theory exams offered by the Royal Conservatory of Music.  Exams are held 4 times a year, and, if a student wishes to take an exam, I can fully prepare him/her for any level of testing.  I have guided many students in successfully completing exams both in practical and theory.
